Engineering Internship

Job Type: Paid Internship / Co-op
Starting Date: Summer, Fall, or Spring Semester
Internships may be extended, hours are flexible
Job Description: Electroninks, Inc. has several openings for Engineering Internships.
Interns will support our scientific team by preparing conductive ink samples; preparing film samples through various coating techniques; characterizing materials; and maintaining laboratory equipment, organization, and inventory. Primary Responsibilities:
• Handling of ink chemistry and samples including preparation and quality control
• Characterization of materials stability (including temperature, humidity, chemical, and adhesion properties)
• Work with materials team on conductive inks formulations, and related synthesis of individual components as well as high viscosity printing methods
• Assist Process Engineer(s) with designs, support, research and hands-on applications
• Provide technical support to production, maintenance, environmental, and quality
• Handling of nanomaterials including silver, copper, and other metallic nanoparticle samples
• Safe chemical handling, lab up-keep, house-keeping, and general applications laboratory practices

Essential requirements:
• Pursing degree in related field
• Experience with wet-chemistry methods and practice, wet-bench, solvents,
chemical reactions, surface chemistry, and materials processing
• Ability to work with chemicals in a safe, organized, and neat manner, with attention for details
• Ability to work in a highly motivated, fast-paced team to develop a range of synthesis, characterization, and processing methods
• Ability to prepare documents, presentations, write standard operating procedures (SOPs), and produce technical reports
• Ability to work with teams; excellent written and verbal communication skills is critical

Engineering Digital Printing Specialist

Starting Date: Review will begin promptly, for position to be filled immediately.
Position Description: Electroninks Inc. is looking to hire a Digital Printing Specialist for its rapidly expanding business. The Digital Printing Specialist will focus on achieving customer milestones for applications of our conductive inks. Applicant methods include but are not limited to inkjet printing, aerosol jet printing, and EHD printing.
Primary Functions and Responsibilities:
• This position will work closely with Jetting team on various R&D projects
• Chemistry and materials knowledge of conductive inks and/or metal complex inks, especially as it relates to formulations for digital printing.
• You will work with the ink formulation team to suggest modifications on existing ink formulations
• You will provide support to customers by designing, fabricating and characterizing inkjet printed samples
• You will assist in customer consultations and building/maintaining strong customer relationships
• You must be able to maintain a high level of lab hygiene in work areas
• Follow all laboratory safety protocols and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Essential Qualifications:
Candidates should have at least 3 years of relevant work experience. Experience with conductive inks, is a huge plus.
• Ability to problem solve and work with minimal supervision toward a stated goal
• Focused on continuous improvement in a fast-paced work environment
• High level of initiative and desire to learn
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Experience following SOP’s
• Ability to work well with a small and diverse team
• Experience with Microsoft Office software, especially Excel and PowerPoint

Additional Desired Experience and Skills:

Top candidates will have experience with the specific tools below will be preferred Industrial Inkjet heads including Fujifilm Dimatix, Ricoh, Konica Minolta, Epson, and more. Including aerosol jet tools including IDS, Optomec, and related tools. Other digital printing and processing techniques including EHD, plasma printing, laser printing and processes.

Equipment Technician

Starting Date: Review will begin promptly, for position to be filled immediately.
Role Description: Our team is quickly expanding, and we are seeking an Equipment Technician to assist our Facilities and Lab Team. Top candidates will have hands-on experience in a laboratory or chemical manufacturing environment, with strong attention to detail and communication skills. The equipment technician has direct contact to members of the facilities, production, and product development teams to create and maintain optimized and individual solutions, creating mechanical and electronic setups, including layout and mechanical engineering and bringing them into a functional state.
What Your Role will be:
• Perform routine to moderately complex technical functions and activities such as maintenance, troubleshooting, assembly, and installation of lab equipment.
• Creating SOPs of written and verbal descriptions, layouts or plans to perform routine testing and troubleshooting.
• Documenting work requests and maintenance completed in a CMMS system.
• Ensures accuracy of equipment used through calibration or other means and perform calibration checks as required.
• Working with the facility and lab management team to keep equipment and analytical tools running, and in spec.
• Consult with equipment vendors and equipment manuals for best practice on equipment usage and suitability during the procurement stage of acquiring new equipment.
• Design new lab equipment, fixtures, and general hardware according to specifications produced by engineers.
• The laboratory technician furthermore organizes logistics, ordering components, equipment, and maintaining stock.
• Assist in handling and cleaning of lab glassware.
• Work safely, following SOPs and general laboratory safety protocols at all times.
• Participate in weekly staff meetings, team meetings, and various other meetings.

Essential Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or technical degree in Chemistry, chemE, general engineering, or similar technical field. Degree is preferred, but multiple years of experience will be considered as a substitute.
• Experience in an explosion proof environment or where flammability mitigations were necessary is a plus.
• Experience handling hazardous materials or understanding of PPE requirements is required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate in a professional manner.
• Experience in wet chemical lab environment or chemical manufacturing environment is a plus.
• Capability to prioritize and multitask efficiently.
• Must maintain appropriate timelines.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Self-Motivated and a team player.
• Eager to add to their knowledge base and skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office software, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

Operations Technician

Starting Date: Review will begin promptly, for position to be filled immediately.

Role Description: Electroninks Inc. is seeking an Operations Technician to join our manufacturing team. Top candidates will have hands-on experience in a wet chemistry laboratory or chemical manufacturing environment, strong communication skills, and a desire to learn.

What Your Role will be:
• Manufacture batches of conductive inks by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to safely operate reactors, pumps, and vacuums
• Characterize inks by following SOPs to measure ink properties such as viscosity, solid content, and conductivity
• Record manufacturing data in the proper locations
• Assist in data analysis to maintain process quality
• Clean and maintain work areas in the lab
• Maintain inventory tracking of finished inks and manufacturing raw materials
• Follow all laboratory safety protocols and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where necessary
• Participate in weekly team meetings

Essential Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or 2-year degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
• Experience in wet chemical laboratory or chemical manufacturing environment
• Strong verbal and written communication
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Self-motivation and a desire to learn new things
• Ability to work well with a small and diverse team
• Experience with Microsoft Office software, especially Excel and PowerPoint
